Dr. Christopher J. Winkler, DVM, VMLSO, DABLS
Diplomate, American Board Of Laser Surgery
Dr. Winkler is a native of Long Island, growing up in Northport with dogs and cats. His time earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology at The University of Rhode Island introduced him to the fascinating world of veterinary medicine and surgery when he interned at The Living Seas in EPCOT Center, witnessing the amazing procedure of placing a moray eel under anesthesia for surgery.
After attending Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts (where he met his best friend Jack pictured at the right) and completing his clinical studies at the University of Missouri, Dr. Winkler returned to Long Island, spending 3 years as a 24-hour emergency veterinarian. It was during his time as an emergency veterinarian that Dr. Winkler wished to provide for his patients a lifetime of wellness instead of just critical care. In 2006 he purchased Suffolk Veterinary Group to bring state-of-the-art medical technology to the community. Dr. Winkler began introducing the benefits of laser medicine and surgery to his general practice care in 2010.
Dr. Winkler is a professional Fellow member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and is a certified Veterinary Medical Laser Safety Officer by the American Institute of Medical Laser Applications. He is also one of only six veterinarians to become certified in Veterinary Laser Medicine and Surgery by the The American Board of Laser Surgery. He has written articles on laser surgery for Veterinary Practice News magazine, sits on the editorial board for the Journal of the American Laser Study Club, and makes appearances as a speaker and instructor on laser surgery at veterinary conventions and professional organizations across the country throughout the year. Dr. Winkler has a special interest in continuing the advancement of laser education and training for veterinary students, colleagues, and licensed veterinary technicians.
Dr. Winkler enjoys spending time with his twin sons, SCUBA diving, reading, camping, watching movies, building models, and playing paintball. Dr. Winkler's talents include not only laser medicine, but cooking wonderful healthy meals, especially over a camp fire.

Johnathan & Kevin
The young twin sons of Dr. and Ms. Winkler enjoy helping their parents at work when they can. After overcoming severe canine anxieties, they happily participate with the Puppy Kindergarten classes to help socialize young dogs with the often unpredictable, quirky nature of children. They also help other young children to learn how to "Be A Tree" in order to prevent dog bites. Their favorite TV show is "Paw Patrol," and they hope to one day have a "puppy just like Chase" of their own.

I want to thank Dr. Winkler and his staff. They are the most compassionate animal care center ever. And when we recently had to put our kitty down, no where else will you receive the compassion they show. God bless them for their kindness and caring hearts.
